SEVEN STAR PRAYING MANTIS KUNG FU (Nottingham UK)
Welcome to the Nottingham Branch of the International Taijiquan and Shaolin Wushu Asociation (ITSWA). The association is based in Leicester and run by its founder Master Derek Frearson. Within the ITSWA, three core Chinese martial arts are taught. These are Taijiquan (Tai Chi), Wing Chun, and Seven Star Praying Mantis. Here at Nottingham Sifu Andy Riley teaches Seven Star Praying Mantis on behalf of the ITSWA. Sifu Riley has been a long time student of Master Frearson since 1992 and still continues to train with him on a regular basis, also with Grand Master Lee Kam Wing whenever possible. Also taught here at Nottingham are Lion Dance (Mo Si), Dragon Dance (Mo Loong) Tai Chi (24 step simplified form), and also Lohan Qi Gong (Internal Body Conditioning).

The Praying Mantis System was created more than 350 years ago in shuntung, China. The foundation and its basics are mainly from the older Shaolin Martial Arts that of which its credited founder Wong Long was experienced in. What makes this Style unique and effective, are the movements of the Praying Mantis which Wong Long observed. From detailed study of the Praying Mantis, Master Wong created the 12 keyword formula. (Within Master Lee Kam wing's system this has now become the 31 keyword fighting formula with more methods added) (please note that this HAS NOT changed any of the Original Style! Wong Long also added the footwork of the Monkey in order to make the practitioner move faster.
